1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in the user's browser when they visit it. They are used to remember information between pages or between visits — for example, the chosen language, whether a session is signed in, or which preferences have been configured in the panel. Alongside cookies, equivalent technologies (browser local storage, session identifiers) perform the same function. This policy groups all of them under the generic term "cookies" to keep things easy to read.

2. Types of cookies we use

Stay Foodie uses three categories of cookies. Strictly necessary technical cookies: session cookie, CSRF token to protect forms, persistence of the selected language and maintenance of authentication state in the panel — these require no consent. Analytics (optional): if the visitor accepts, Google Analytics is loaded to understand which pages work and where users get stuck; data is processed in aggregated form. Personalisation: these remember admin panel preferences for the restaurant, such as default calendar view or saved filters. We do not use advertising or remarketing cookies.

3. Third-party cookies

Some external services integrated into Stay Foodie may install their own cookies. Stripe, the payment provider, uses fraud detection and device verification cookies during checkout — these are necessary for transaction security. Google is involved at two points: Google Analytics (only if the analytics category is accepted) and reCAPTCHA on the contact form, which uses cookies to distinguish legitimate traffic from automated bots. The full policies can be consulted at stripe.com/privacy and policies.google.com.

4. Retention periods

Session cookies are deleted automatically when the browser is closed, since their purpose ends when the visit ends. Persistent cookies (those that remember language, preferences or consent) have a maximum lifetime of 13 months, following the recommendation of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD). After that period, the consent banner will ask the user again for their choice. Third-party cookies are governed by the retention periods defined in each provider's policy, accessible from the links listed in the previous section.

5. How to manage cookies

On the first visit a consent banner appears from which all cookies can be accepted, non-essential ones rejected, or each category configured individually. The choice can be reviewed at any time from the link in the footer. Additionally, any modern browser allows cookies to be blocked or deleted from its settings — this route affects every site visited, not only Stay Foodie. Rejecting analytics cookies does not degrade the service in any way: the panel, bookings and payments continue to operate normally.

6. Updates to this policy

The current version of the cookie policy is always the one published on this page, with the update date shown in the header. If new categories of cookies are introduced, additional third parties are added or the scope of the processing is materially changed, the consent banner will be shown again to request a new choice before the changes are applied. Minor corrections (typos, wording clarifications) are published without prior notice and do not affect consent already given.

7. Contact

For any query or clarification about the use of cookies on Stay Foodie you can contact the privacy team at privacidad@stayfoodie.com. Queries are answered in English, Spanish or Catalan, within a maximum of 30 calendar days. If the matter relates to the exercise of data protection rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction or portability), it is worth reviewing the Privacy Policy first, where the specific procedure for each right is set out in detail.
